Drying

Drying wood is a process that is carried out in special automated dryers at our company. This helps us to efficiently reduce the moisture level of the natural wood to the "working" range, that is, to a moisture content that will not end the many problems that excess moisture can cause. These problems include dimensional distortion, poor absorption of paints, antiseptics, fire retardants and adhesives. Also, wet wood is much harder than dried wood.

The response of dried wood to climate change

Even when timber is dried in automated dryers and the exact "working" moisture content is achieved, it is possible to find altered moisture content in the timber after drying at any stage of the process (transport, construction, storage or installation). Additional moisture content decreases in a dry environment and insufficient moisture content increases in a humid environment, which can lead to changes in the dimensions of the timber as a result of changes in the moisture content of the timber, with undesirable consequences, such as shrinkage or expansion of the cladding on the façade, which can spoil the overall appearance of the façade of the building. It is therefore very important to allow the dried timber to acclimatise to its environment before working with it.
